Saturday May 24th @ 7 pm | Free
The Powerhouse | 8 Mears Ave. Silverton, CO 81433
Come join us in Silverton, CO, on May 24th at 7 pm for a screening of the documentary hit Nocturnes (Sundance 2024) to learn about scientific research on moths in the spectacular beauty of the Himalayas.
After the film, discover more about local scientist research with area ecohydrologist Dr. Jake Kurzweil. As Associate Director of Water Programs for the Mountain Studies Institute, Kurzweil’s work on climate resilient ecosystems can help us increase awareness of local scientific research in the San Juan Mountains and its connections to mountain communities around the world.
Dr. Kurzweil will be in conversation with Jared LaCroix and Dr. Jacob Abell, co-directors of the Ouray International Film Festival. The screening will begin at 7 pm on May 24th at The Powerhouse in Silverton, Colorado.
This free event is the second installment of the Ouray International Film Festival’s partnership with Science on Screen®, an initiative of the Coolidge Corner Theatre, with major support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
Dr. Jake Kurzweil will discuss climate and ecosystem interconnectivity after the screening.
